California’s first polygamous marriage ceremony took place this week, and it was officiated by the city of Oakland, with the bride being the first polyamorous bride-to-be to marry in California.
“Oakland is the first city in the country to legalize the ceremony of polyamory, which is an intimate relationship between two or more people of the same gender,” said Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf.
Oakland will also serve as a model for the rest in the region, which has already approved its own version of a wedding.” “
The ceremony will take place at a hotel on Thursday night, which will allow all the guests and the entire community to experience it.
Oakland will also serve as a model for the rest in the region, which has already approved its own version of a wedding.”
Oakland, the fourth largest city in California, approved its version of the Poly-Amorous Marriage Act last year.
In addition to marriage ceremonies, Oakland residents can now register to vote by mail.
The new law also provides for the legalization of poly-amorous partnerships, which are couples who have sexual relationships of their own.
“It’s really important for the city and the county to get this done, as it is a huge step forward in our county and in the state,” Schaaf said.
“We’re excited to see this happen in Oakland and we hope that other cities across the country will follow Oakland’s lead.”
Oakland will now be the third city in America to officially recognize polyamorists.
California’s Department of Public Health (DPH) announced last year that it had found no evidence of harm associated with polyamored couples.
In 2016, the agency reported that it found no documented cases of polydactyly in the United States.
“There’s been no scientific evidence to show that having a polyamour relationship is associated with a reduction in mental health, substance abuse, or suicide,” Dr. Katherine A. Collins, the director of the DHHS’s Office of Science and Technology Policy, told The Associated Press.
Collins said that although the number of polypeople in the U.S. is relatively small, there is growing concern about their health.
“Research has shown that polyamore relationships can lead to an increased risk of depression, anxiety, and social isolation,” she said.
