The 32-year-old actress and her former husband, who are engaged to be married in February, have not yet shared their vows, but the couple’s relationship has been nothing short of remarkable.
Their wedding was organised with the help of a private company and was filmed and filmed, with a few scenes shot on the road in India.
And they’re also doing it with the support of the local community.
“We were lucky enough to be invited by the local people, we’ve done it with all the love and support from them,” said Chopra.
“It’s been a very emotional experience.
It’s been so emotional for us.
It was really beautiful to see the people.”
Chopra and Akshaya, who live in India’s capital, Delhi, are the most famous of many Indian couples to wed.
And their love story is far from ordinary.
The couple met when Chopra was working on a movie, and she became pregnant shortly afterwards.
But it wasn’t until the couple were both working in the same office, Chopra had to relocate to Delhi to work as a receptionist.
She remembers thinking: “I don’t know how to make a film.
I want to do something special.”
Chapra went on to marry Akshya in 2004.
They had two children, but it was their son, Arjun, who was born five years later.
The family are currently celebrating their son’s birthday.
“He’s just like a little boy, but we don’t get to play with him much because of my schedule, and he has to stay in the house,” said Akshye.
The pair have two other sons and two grandchildren.
And Chopra is happy to be able to share a wedding in India with so many people.
“I think it’s wonderful that people are happy to have a family, that they’re happy to share their love with their loved ones, and that they are happy that they can be together,” she said.
“For us, it was a very special and emotional experience.”
