The marriages of Ilhan Omar and his wife were approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health on Monday, according to the Associated Press.
The department said the marriage certificate is valid for only one year, and that the couple have been married for more than three decades.
A couple in Texas was reportedly married in a fake marriage in 2018.
The couple was married in Colorado in 2013.
The Department of Health said they were approved because they have lived together for more a year than required by the state.
